Battlefield of the Mind

It's time again for me to chose the next verse for the Living Proof Memory Verse Challenge. This is the 6th of 24 verses I will memorize this year. I have chosen Isaiah 26:3:
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

This is a verse that I really need right now. So much going on. So many decisions to be made. So many things to do.

I want my decisions to be God led. I want my actions to be God inspired. I want to bring honor and glory to Him in all that I say and do. And yet, life can be so distracting. A husband who is ill, a household to run, a job that's demanding, a child to raise. So many people clamoring for my attention.

What I want, what I need is peace in the midst of the storm. This can only be accomplished by fixing my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds me,
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Father, The victory has already been one. Guard my heart and my mind. Keep me focused on you. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - lead me to think about such things. Because you Lord are all of those things. Fill me with the peace that only you can give.

So honest, so true, so down to earth. Your blog speaks of reality. Everybody wants a piece of you. The same is true of me. I can relate. It is easy to be so distracted, and listen to false voices all around, and be motivated by the tyranny of the urgent. I echo your prayer, dear Lisa...Lord, Lisa and I pray together: may our hearts be stayed on You Lord, and may your peace be ours for the journey."

Beautiful verse! I will join you in hiding God's word in our hearts. And I will pray that the Lord grants you peace. God bless you! ... Lori

Lisa,

I have a friend that clings to Philippians 4:6-7 and one day while encouraging her, I looked at the previous verse. Glance back, would you to 5b

Is that just not the coolest?

So you are soon headed home, was wondering with your memory verse, are you able to even contemplate perhaps a journey to Houston in January?

Love to you,
Yolanda
