Honoring the American Worker

Happy Labor Day to the American worker! This is your day to be celebrated! American ingenuity, creativity, inventiveness, resourcefulness and sheer determination have helped to make this country great.

This has not been a great year for the American worker. So many men and women have lost their jobs and their security. Families are hurting in ways that they never anticipated. I'm reminded today of:
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. Psalm 27:4
Another verse I love is:
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19
If you have a job today, stop and give thanks! If you are without a job, God has not forgotten you! If you have a need today, ask your Father in Heaven. He loves you! He's listening!

Let's say a prayer today for our country, it's leaders, the American worker and our Missionaries laboring around the world. If you would like prayer for someone who is out of work, please list their name in your comments. Together we'll carry them to the throne room of grace, asking the Father on their behalf.

Two educational assistants at my friend Debbie's school were let go Friday due to budget constraints. Both of their husbands also lost their jobs in the last couple of weeks. Pray for these families.

I love the verse that you quoted.

God alone is our salvation.

And our strength.

Thanks for the reminder.

Today presents a wonderful opportunity for us to give thanks.

Sweet dreams.

Thanks for your comment on my blog! You are right that God will take care of us. It has been fun to get to write about how He is doing that in our lives.

Blessings, Jenny

Amen Lisa! A great reminder here today that work is a gift from the Lord. It's really sad to see people that WANT to work not being able to find jobs....when there's people who WON'T work still doing nothing and drawing some kind of government check. (Don't get me wrong...I know some people deserve this help...but I know several who draw disability and can go fishing or bend over working in their flower beds all day long!)

God bless you !
